Certifications 2002  Relational Therapy
2009  Somatic Experiencing (three year training)

I practiced early in my career at several family service agencies in Austin, where I worked as a counselor with individuals, couples, families and groups. I also served as supervisor and trainer to many other clinicians over 25 years, and as Clinical Supervisor or Clinical Director at several counseling agencies in the Austin area, including Child and Family Service, Workers Assistance Program, Lifeworks, and the YWCA of Greater Austin.

My training has ranged from family systems work early in my career to object relations studies and psychodynamic counseling, then to Relational Theory, and more recently to Somatic Experiencing, a body-based therapy where the focus is on the nervous system and its reactions to events and experiences. The somatic work has delivered the most outstanding results with clients: in individuals and in couples, work and personal issues can be re-negotiated at a deep systemic level and genuine healing can occur.
